Miles Redd

One of my favorite designers is Miles Redd, who is based out of New York. While studying at NYU, he was interested in set design, he began working for antiques dealer John Rosselli, which would serve as a hands-on education in furniture and the decorative arts. Later hired by decorator Bunny Williams, he spent his time as a shopper in flea markets and being her design assistant. After a while of working in and out of design, Mr. Redd opened his own office in Noho. His use of color, and different style of antiques, along with books, brings his rooms to have an interesting quality, which is unmatched by any other designer. His work has been featured in New York Magazine, Vogue, House Beautiful, Elle Décor, House & Garden, W, and Country Life. What I most enjoy about Mr. Redd was that he was named creative director of Oscar de la Renta Home in 2003, overseeing all home design projects by Mr. de la Renta.

Mr. Redd has an exceptional book collection which he features prominently in his own apartment. I absolutely love books, and being surrounded by stacks of hardcovers everywhere in the room. I hope to accumulate enough books, one day, to fill an entire room, floor to ceiling, on all four walls, with just one bench in the middle. Having a room with books can do no harm.

I love nothing more than a marble-clad bathroom, because it is so old world, and functional. Marble coating the walls is such a great idea because it provides a seamless effect, and the floor tile, and the wall tile doesn't necessarily have to match either.

Most people know me as a neat-freak, so I obviously love a made bed, and fitted sheets/blankets are even better. White sheets are super luxe, along with a darker top cover. The throw on the bed, and the curtains add a pop of color to the room, which creates interest, but I especially love the rounded mirror of the bed; some might say it is tacky, but I am totally into it, and currently looking for one.

This is one of my favorite rooms of all time. The sense of interest everywhere is so chic, between the different coverings on the seating, and the lacquer paint on the walls is so great. But the classic herringbone wood floors ground the space, and still make it classic.

Who doesn't need a bar in their house, and instead of having one of the sit-down bars, a tabletop bar is the way to go because it's a space saver, all while being very classic. However it should always be neat and organized, you don't want people to think you're a patron of it all day.

Town & Country
One of the easiest ways to entertain is having a prep area, and a butler's pantry is the way to go. Making the cabinetry a different color than the kitchen defines the space, but I think it should stay sparse and readily available. Plus the upper glass cabinetry provides interest because you can display all kinds of different dishes or china.
