Citizens of Humanity Spring/Summer Presentation

If you've ever read Standard Luxe before, you know that denim is a hot topic here, and needless to say that I was excited to have the privilege of seeing Citizens of Humanity's S/S 2011 collection presented here in Chicago! It's not too often that collections are presented in the Midwest, so getting to go to the presentation at the W - Chicago was especially exciting. CoH was started in 2003 by Jerome Dahan, who was also involved with 7 for All Man Kind, and Lucky Jeans. Mr. Dahan's denim pedigree does him well, easily seen in the craftsmanship of the Citizens of Humanity jeans. If I took one thing from this CoH's upcoming collection is that 70s-era styles are back in full force for the summer season. The wide-legged and high-waisted jeans really scream retro. I am really excited for this trend to take off, it will be interesting to see women flow down the street in these Angie jeans (image 1), having that extra movement in her strut. However, if the wide-leg isn't for you, CoH is presenting the Cropped Thompson, which is a reinvented jean-legging coming in multiple colors that will punch up your personal style; the Thompsons are one of my favorites. The 70s trend doesn't stop with pants, but women's shorts have the high-waisted flair, rightfully called The Boogie Shorts (image 3). The other pair of shorts called The Rebel (images 4-6), which are high-waisted, but ultra faded, connecting 70s style with and 80s aesthetic with unique details on the back pockets (images 5-6). Check back tomorrow for the mens looks, they also are really great.
