The Standard Boom Boom (Room)

Who doesn't love a throwback to the 1970s...? Okay, I can't say that I am particularly partial to that era, but I'll chalk my distain up to generational differences, however I can get on board with The Standard Hotel's new and recently worked over Boom Boom Room. The 18th floor lounge is definitely something to talk about. The Boom Boom Room and it's central home, The Standard Hotel was taken over by chic hotelier Andre Balasz and made into "the new Studio 54." The unique space was designed by the none other than Roman and Williams, which overtook the space with a focus around the circular bar. The center of the bar draws your vision in a vertical motion to reveal a giant custom wooden overhang that is dramatically lit and makes the bar area feel automatically intimate among the giant floor to ceiling windows. The soft wood tones and creme color banquets around the room give the room a comfortable chic quality. The lounge has been the shooting location for many television shows like Gossip Girl, and I am sure it will be seen again because no other room can be as captivating as The Boom Boom Room.
