Isle of the Kitchen

I don't trust kitchens without islands, unless it's a galley-style kitchen. An island of cabinets in a kitchen has the ability to ground the kitchen and create a central point in the room. However, many islands don't necessarily match the rest of the kitchen, which is something I sometimes appreciate. The uniformness of the wall cabinets can give the kitchen class, while a fancy and spunky island can pump up the personality in the room for cooks. People have gotten a little crazy for the last couple of years, making the islands in kitchens totally different entities, but still creating a cohesive environment. Mixing and matching finishes and materials make the room seem really unique, I especially love a metal hollow island (almost like a table), with classic white cabinets. Take a look below at some of the different ways people have discovered islands in their kitchen in a totally different way.
