Loft(ish) on Park Avenue

Combing uptown and downtown on Manhattan's Park Avenue is an accomplishment not many can pull off, but designer Steven Gambrel made a family's New York City apartment a thing of both worlds. Combining different features throughout the space allowed Mr. Gambrel to marry both the idea of urban loft and classic apartment living. The rich fabrics used throughout the furniture is offset by the strong and industrialized materials used, like the safe-inspired design of a pair of side tables in the dinning room, or the steel cabinets used in the kitchen. The theme of the whole apartment is combination, even down to the architectural design; the space was originally two separate homes, but combined to accommodate a growing family. Being able to infuse two different design aesthetics into one home can make for a really interesting home, and will always leave you guessing what you might find behind the next door.
