Milan Fashion Week Recap

Since fashion week in Milan has come and gone, I thought I'd put together my favorite collections from the season. I didn't have very much trouble picking my favorites, the overall presentation for menswear was somewhat lackluster, but some did prevail. I naturally eyed the traditional collections with subdued color palettes, but Burberry Prorsum did catch my eye with their subtle tribal prints and calmingly bright color choices. My favorite collections is headed by a look from the collection, and that picture is a link to the collection in its entirety on style.com

Band of Outsiders
The assortment of classic pieces in wild colors gives the Spring collection something unique, but is nothing unexpected from the design house. The outerwear in this line is really spectacular, you have choices from the classic leather jacket, swanky double-breasted blazer, a few different rain jackets, or a snappy little pullover wind breaker. Band of Outsiders is always a favorite.

Burberry Prorsum
This corky collection from the famed British company is ripe with color and following the trend of hints of African tribal prints. The subtle colors in this collection are really great, bright, but not overly dramatic. And lets face it, who doesn't love a hat with a little fuzz ball on top? Burberry Prorsum is the creative middle child of the Burberry lines, and it can be counted on for amazing looks and new ideas.

Costume National
I am usually not a fan of Costume National, but this Spring collection definitely caught my attention. The subdued attention to detail along with minimal color makes me appreciate their other more wild collections. When designer shows they can be versatile, I tend to respond/respect them more. However, their minimal color palette is offset by one or two bright red colored pieces, that may be channeling the devil (stated with good intentions). Costume National definitely knows how to keep a collection fresh and very chic.

Gucci
Ever since Tom Ford reinvented the label a while back, they have always had powerhouse collections. The designers can take the traditional Italian way of menswear, and then transform it into a sleek and sophisticated interoperation. The sheen to this collection is not overstated, but has enough to make some great evening pieces. With this collection, Gucci has solidified its staying power in the world of fashion.
