In an effort to submerse myself in island living over the past few days, I came across jewelry designer India Hick's Harbour Island home she shares with her partner David Flint Wood. The two moved to the Caribbean in the 90s and have since acquired an array of beautiful homes in the region. This classic British colonial home was completely renovated by the couple, who still kept the charm of what the house once was. This tropical home is effortlessly chic, and still looking authentic to the rest of the island. The home is not filled with priceless antiques, but rather finds from Pottery Barn, Anthropology, Ikea and even SkyMall (yes, I said SkyMall). The outrageously comfortable looking home is made for a family, with slipcovered sofas and dark hardwood floors throughout. Scattered knick knacks can be found throughout the house, along with various oil paintings that add to the charm of the island getaway. My all time favorite room in the house is one of the guest bathrooms, which is completely covered in wallpaper clad in renderings of a world map. This nautical-inspired bathroom is perfect for the island home, and will offer hours of entertainment, looking all around the world... just what people need in the bathroom. And if I might throw in a tidbit of information, the wallpaper was ordered from none other than Sky Mall Magazine! As I've been saying the last few days, a vacation sounds great right about now, and this tropical locale will do just fine.
