In an effort to plan some sort of vacation by researching new hotels, I came across Ian Schrager's new project in Chicago and am now thinking of just staying here (I refuse to use the term stay-cation). Mr. Schrager has trademarked the trendy boutique hotel by working over The Gramercy Park Hotel in New York City, and opening up a variety of other super luxe inns around the world. He makes big buildings feel homey, and gives the guest a sense of chicness that you won't find anywhere else. Early this year he secured The Ambassador East, which is a National Historic Landmark located in The Gold Coast. The building being built in 1926 is filled with (dilapidated) charm, and was, funnily enough, the wedding site of Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall. Below are pictures of The Gramercy Park Hotel which known for its really stylish design but feel of comfort for any traveler. I have the utmost confidence that Mr. Schragger will make The Ambassador East a posh establishment, and cannot wait to see it.
