de Gournay Wall Paper

Wallpaper in a home is always a tricky thing to incorporate, it usually has such a stigma about it, but not when you're talking de Gournay wall coverings. The British company is known for beautifully hand-painted wall papers, along with fabrics, and porcelain too. The company traditionally specializes in 18th century Chinoiserie and 19th century French designs, but I think their Japanese and Korean wall coverings are the best. Each covering usually displays some kind of natural element, either trees, flower, or even animals. The wall papers are always painted by hand to give a one of a kind quality and personal feel. My favorite motif by de Gournay is the Windswept Tree, the design is so interesting, and even gives movement to the room. The company has showrooms all over the world, including, London, Paris, Moscow, Shanghai, Southern California, and Istanbul. Hand-painted wall papers are the epitome of luxury in a home, but should not be overused. I would love to have my dining room covered in a de Gournay Japanese motif, so I can enjoy my delicious Japanese take-out while looking onto picturesque Japanese scenery.
