Jackets for Men

So Winter's here, and I've suffered quite the debacle of winterwear. A button fell of my favorite peacoat. Talk about 'first world problems' huh? In an effort to solve my FWP, I automatically started looking for new coats. Naturally I found many suitable options, and then outlined options of what every man should own. From trenches, to overcoats, to little weekend jackets, I complied the top jackets and coats for all seasons and occasions, from me to you. You're welcome. And don't even think about questioning my choices. By the way, if you can't stop thinking about my problem, I made the conservative decision and decided to not buy a new coat. I'm thinking about replacing all the buttons on my coat to something more interesting. Who knew I could be so crafty?

Buckle Up, Knuckle Head

I was raised in a household where I always had to buckle up. Since I've given up owning a car (and the passion to drive), I still feel the need to buckle something. I suppose some people would suggest I buckle my mouth, but I would much rather prefer to buckle the toggle notches on a duffle coat this winter.  This (usually) wool coats are the equivalent to a peacoat's crazy cousin. They have very similar DNA, being the fabric, while their way of holding it all together is a bit off. The duffle coat is made from duffle, a thick woolen material, with a front-fastening system consisting of walrus-teeth, leather and/or rope. Definitely the black sheep of the coat family. But a chic sheep none the less. The classic coats are generally made with a hood, so they're practical in cold weather, while its coarse woolen material is resistant to moisture and anything you may spill on it. I'm definitely not talking from experience.

Wrap it Up

There's nothing better than looking classic and cool. And when I say cool, I mean chilly. Staying warm in the winter doesn't necessarily mean wrapping yourself in a down parka and putting on a dumb looking hat. I remember many years ago when I saw a David Beckham in a dapper suit with none other than a heavy wool scarf. I thought to myself, that's weirdly nice looking. It doesn't make obvious sense to wear a suit, sans a topcoat, but with scarf. It would seem as though something is missing (like the coat). But low and behold, pairing a suit with only a scarf to keep you warm and (semi) protected from the elements is as snazzy as it could be. So take a look below at some interesting pairings of suits and scarves, and my newly acquired Photoshop skills. Yes, you guessed it. The looks below are actually styled by Standard Luxe. Enjoy and stay warm!
